I’ve been dabbling in design professionally since 1994 and established MA Plus Design in 1996.
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients, designing literature and marketing collateral for many arts and educational organisations, corporate clients and individuals. I maintain long-term relationships with my clients, developing and growing along side them, producing quality designs that not only meet the brief, but excel all expectations.
I’ve also dabbled in soft furniture design, fabric home-wares and lampshade design. These activities resulted in becoming a founding member of the supermarket collective. In 2002 and 2003 we opened a one week only pre-Christmas gift store taking advantage of a vacant store right in the heart of the music and fashion scene in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. We were made up of a group of designers, writers, photographers and artists displaying and selling the wares we produced outside of our daily professions. It was a pretty exciting time, and to have the chance to explore our other skills really fed the creative process.
I’ve produced designs for small to large scale exhibitions with key museums and galleries in Brisbane, and in many cases the success of these exhibitions has been due to long established relationships with a core group of design professionals and suppliers who are as committed to each project produced by MA Plus Design as I am.
In mid 2010 I relocated to Melbourne, a place I’ve visited yearly since the mid 90s, and my mother’s home town. The fact that Melbourne is one of the most stimulating design hubs in the world keeps me motivated after so many years and regular trips back to Brisbane keeps me in touch with many long term clients.
